A middle-aged man escaped angry youths in Mwingi town after his Probox car was found carrying charcoal.
Business along the busy Mwingi-Garissa highway came to a halt
as the car which was loaded with 10 bags of charcoal headed for Nairobi went aflame.The youths burnt down the vehicle even though
it had burnt due to the hot charcoal it was transporting.
”Atleast police should stop accusing Ngilu of inciting youths. This car burst out in flames alone. Just naturaly.” Nzioka a resident said.
the owner who was resting inside the car after parking beside the road fled the scene to avoid being stoned by the angry mob. the police got chased away by the mob claiming they were protecting those involved in the charcoal trade.
The incident comes a day after Mrs Ngilu appeared before the National Cohesion and Integration Commission for questioning over the allegations of inciting youths to burn charcoal trucks. this is the second charcoal vehicle to be burnt in kitui.
